Pregnant woman with sonogram picture

Question:

I really want a 3D Ultrasound but am I too late?

Answer: Normally, diagnostic ultrasounds are done at 18 - 20 weeks at your doctor’s office or in the radiology department.  This is the best time to assess the fetal anatomy.   But for a 3D Keepsake Ultrasound (nondiagnostic) the best time is 26-28 weeks.  The baby is small enough and surrounded by plenty of amniotic fluid but also getting some baby fat and looks pretty cute.  Twins should be done a little earlier, around 24 - 27 weeks.  But there is no hard and fast rules, so a 3D ultrasound can be done as late or early as you’d like but be aware that the later in pregnancy that you wait, the harder it will be to get good pictures.
